Dr Peter Aslan is one of Australia’s leading leading laparoscopic surgeons specialising in the treatment of renal cancers and conditions.
Dr Aslan graduated from Sydney University in 1989 and completed his Urology training in Sydney 1998. He received his Fellowship in Endourology at Duke University in the USA, where he developed his skills in laser surgery, transplant surgery and laparoscopic renal surgery. He has published widely and has an international reputation in the treatment of urinary stones disease and minimally invasive surgery. He returned to Sydney as the first Surgeon using this Holmium laser technology.
Peter has trained in robotic prostates and laparoscopic surgery of the kidney and adrenal gland including laparoscopic partial nephrectomy. His main interests are kidney disease and transplants. Dr Aslan is appointed as a VMO at Waratah Private Hospital and Hurstville Private Hospital, St George Private, Prince of Wales Public and The Mater Private Hospitals.
Peter is also an inaugural member, and serves on the board of Kidney Cancer Australia. He is also on the subcommittee of the (ANZUP) Australian & New Zealand Urogenital and Prostate Cancer Trials Group and is the Urologist adviser for the Sydney Women’s Endosurgery Centre.
He is currently involved in clinical research: – the Resirt trial, an exciting, world-first phase 1 trial embolizing renal tumours with radiation spheres. It is only performed at St George Hospital. – the SORCE trial, an international study for the treatment of advanced Renal Cell Cancer using Sorafenib – MRI scan, to predetermine the type of Renal Cell Cancer prior to surgery
