Dr Omid Zarghom is a consultant Gastroenterologist at the Hospital for Specialist Surgery (HSS) in Norwest and a visiting medical officer at Strathfield Private Hospital.
Having finished his Physician training at The Alfred hospital, Melbourne, he completed his Gastroenterology training at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and Western hospital in Victoria before moving to Toronto, Canada to advance his training in Endoscopy and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) at the University of Toronto, Canada.
Dr Zarghom has extensive experience in the management of complex patients with Ulcerative Colitis (UC) and Crohn’s disease following the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) fellowship in Canada and has ongoing clinical research centred around new therapeutic treatments for IBD. He has a special interest in diagnostic and therapeutic Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy in addition to Pillcam (capsule endoscopy), Coeliac disease and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
Dr Zarghom is a certified endoscopist with the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (CCRTGE), an active member of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) and a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. In addition to this he has memberships with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) Canada, American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), and European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation (ECCO).
Dr Zarghom’s patients describe him as a passionate and caring doctor who always takes a special interest in managing their issues and addresses all aspects of their disease with an empathic and holistic approach. He believes in clear communication in plain language with all patients to enable them to fully understand their illness and related management strategies.
