John Salmon commenced private practice in East Melbourne in 1997 and in the past has held consultant positions at Austin, Monash Medical Centre and Northern Hospital.
At present he works only in private practice, mainly at St Vincent’s Private in East Melbourne and Kew. He has previously consulted in Kew, Eltham and the northern suburbs but is currently consulting just at the East Melbourne rooms. He sees many patients from rural areas including Gippsland, northern Victoria and the western districts.
John’s particular interest is the management of conditions of the shoulder, particularly sporting injuries, rotator cuff injury and arthritis.
John has over 20 years’ experience of the surgical and conservative treatment options for shoulder conditions.
He will provide a balanced approach to your problem and make recommendations, particularly as to whether treatment can be non-operative or if a surgical procedure would be recommended.
John bases his decisions on extensive experience and the application of fundamental principles, using the best available techniques and equipment.
You will be looked after by John’s friendly and efficient staff.
John has been involved in the development of shoulder surgery as a subspecialty especially in Victoria. In the past he has held positions at the Australian Orthopaedic Association. He is currently the chairman of the Orthopaedic Craft Group at St Vincent’s Private and is currently a member of the Medical Advisory Committee.
John has performed surgery for footballers from a number AFL clubs, as well as VFL, suburban and country football clubs.
