Dr Brennan is an Australian Neurosurgeon operating at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and North Shore Private Hospital in Sydney, NSW.

He maintains an interest in all areas of neurosurgery, with subspecialty focus on disorders of the spine, brain tumours, and cerebrovascular disease.

After completing a Bachelor of Science in Anatomy and Physiology, he graduated from medical school at the University of NSW with first class honours in 1991, and was awarded the University Medal in Medicine.

He trained in Australia at St Vincent's, Royal North Shore, Royal Prince Alfred, and The New Children's Hospitals in Sydney, obtaining Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Neurosurgery in 1999. He then undertook an 18 months overseas fellowship in Canada at the University of Toronto in spinal disorders, neurotrauma, and cerebrovascular neurosurgery, before taking up his current position as Consultant Neurosurgeon.

In addition to a strong clinical focus on patient well being, he is involved in training junior neurosurgeons and holds the position of Supervisor of Advanced Training for the RACS Surgical Education and Training Program in neurosurgery at RPA hospital. He contributes to Neurosurgery Curriculum sub-committees to help frame the structure of neurosurgical training through the RACS. He is also the trauma committee representative for neurosurgery at RPA.

He is committed to staying up to date and maintaining and developing new skills, regularly attending workshops and meetings in Australia, Europe, and North America. His national and international professional associations include the Australian Medical Association, the Neurosurgical Society of Australasia, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
