Deepa is an ophthalmic surgeon who has a special interest in paediatric ophthalmology. She is a Visiting medical officer at Women’s and Children Hospital and Senior staff specialist at the Flinders Medical Centre.
Deepa’s basic training in medicine and specialist training in ophthalmology was in India followed by a Fellowship in Paediatric ophthalmology in Sydney in 2003-2004. Subsequently, she was awarded the FRANZCO (Fellow of Royal Australia New Zealand College of ophthalmology) in 2007.
She devotes 50% of her time to paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus while the rest is dedicated to general ophthalmology including cataract surgery, adult strabismus management, eyelid surgeries etc.
She runs the monthly Ocular Genetics clinic at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. She is in charge of the Retinopathy of Prematurity screening clinics and Premature baby followup eye clinics at the Flinders Medical Centre.
