Dr Taylor is a colorectal surgeon at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, The Wesley Hospital and St Andrew’s War Memorial and a Senior Lecturer with the University of Queensland. He attained his FRACS in General Surgery and subsequently completed three fellowship years of colorectal subspecialist training including the CSSANZ / RACS “Training Board in Colon and Rectal Surgery” program. His final fellowship year was in Brisbane at the Royal Brisbane, the Wesley, St Andrew’s, Holy Spirit Northside and North West Private Hospital’s with Dr’s Lumley, Stevenson, Clark, Petersen, Meade and Chow.
He has subsequently joined in association with these surgeons publicly, privately and in ongoing research and training. He practices broadly across all aspects of colorectal surgery including anorectal pathology, defecatory and continence disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, benign colorectal pathology and colorectal oncology.
He has particular interests in laparoscopic colorectal surgery and complex colorectal surgery, including inflammatory bowel disease and pelvic exenteration. Dr Taylor is heading the newly developed multidisciplinary ‘pelvic exenteration’ service (for locally advanced primary rectal cancer and recurrent rectal cancer) for Queensland, based out of the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
