Dr Daniel Gaffney studied science at the University of Leeds, UK and Medicine at St George’s Hospital, London, graduating in 2006. He then undertook basic specialist training in Surgery and graduated with the diploma of Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Subsequently he trained in Dermatology in Brisbane and the UK with rotations at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Royal Brisbane Hospital, Mater Children’s and Lady Cilento Hospitals and the Queensland Institute of Dermatology as well as a year at St Mary’s Hospital, Portsmouth, UK. Having completed both the Australasian College Fellowship examinations and the British Royal College of Physicians Specialty Certificate examinations, Dr Gaffney holds specialist qualifications in Dermatology from both Australia and the UK.
Dr Gaffney has been involved in research and clinical trials in melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma and other aspects of Dermatology and has published and presented in major medical journals and at scientific meetings. He is actively involved in the ongoing training of dermatology registrars and GPs. His special interest lies in skin cancer management and surgery, as well as general, paediatric and cosmetic dermatology.
He now consults in private practice in Brisbane, as well as publicly at Nambour General Hospital and the new Sunshine Coast University Hospital at Birtinya in the Sunshine Coast’s Kawana region.
