Dr Chris Alexopoulos completed his fellowship in Cardiology and Echocardiography at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney after graduating from the University of New South Wales with Honours in 1999. He has been a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians and the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand since 2008. Dr Alexopoulos is the principal cardiologist at Port Macquarie Cardiology. He is also the Director of Cardiology Services at Port Macquarie Base Hospital having worked as a cardiologist caring for patients in our region since 2008. He has been instrumental in the expansion of cardiology services in the Hastings Macleay region. He cares for a broad group of patients with specific interests in diagnostic cardiac imaging, coronary disease, valvular heart disease, heart failure, cardiac rhythm disturbances and preventative cardiology. Dr Alexopoulos performs specialised diagnostic cardiac procedures including transoesophageal echocardiograms and cardiac catheterisation procedures. He is the principal investigator for both hospital and outpatient clinical research trials.
