Dr. Kear was born, raised and trained as a doctor in Yorkshire, UK. During that time he took junior hospital posts in several specialities, including general medicine, ear nose and throat, obstetrics, gynaecology, geriatric care, psychiatry, general, neuro and vascular surgery before finally settling in to family medicine, running his own practice in the UK for the middle part of his career.
Dr. Kear and his family relocated to Tasmania in 2003 and after initially working as a GP, undertook further qualifications in general practice as well as dermatology and skin cancer. His main interest is general dermatology, however Dr. Kear also enjoys the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers.
Dr. Kear's particular interest within dermatology is the management of patients with all grades of acne, especially difficult and complex cases. He is one of the very few doctors in Tasmania who can prescribe Roaccutane for the management of acne.
Dr. Kear additionally teaches part-time at the Australian Institute of Dermatology and regularly attends national and international dermatology conferences to keep his knowledge up to date and ensure his patients receive the very best in dermatological care.
