Dr Arthur Nasis is a consultant cardiologist and non-invasive imaging specialist. He has a particular clinical and research interest in the evolving role of cardiac imaging in the assessment of coronary artery disease as well as clinical outcomes and models of acute cardiac care.
Arthur graduated from the University of Melbourne with Honours in 2003 and subsequently trained at St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and MonashHeart where he completed a non-invasive imaging fellowship focused on echocardiography and cardiac CT. He then completed his MD and PhD at the Monash Cardiovascular Research Centre at Monash University that investigated the accuracy, utility and prognostic impact of new imaging techniques, including novel aspects of cardiac CT and stress echocardiography. More recently, he undertook a post-doctoral research program at the University College London and the Heart Hospital in London where he also trained in cardiac MRI. The results of his research have led to the design and implementation of new pathways of cardiac care that have improved the assessment of patients with suspected coronary artery disease.
Arthur’s research has been underpinned by the successful granting of several prestigious research scholarships including a National Health and Medical Research Council Postgraduate Scholarship, a National Heart Foundation Postgraduate Scholarship, a State Government ‘Victoria Fellowship’ and a MonashHealth Senior Medical Staff Academic Scholarship. In addition he has been the winner or finalist of several national and international scientific prizes including the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand Ralph Reader Young Investigator Award, the Radiological Society of North America Alexander R Margulis Award for Scientific Excellence and the Royal Australian College of Physicians Bushell Fellowship in Medicine. He has presented his research findings at multiple national and international conferences and published numerous peer-reviewed articles in high impact journals. As an acknowledgement of his commitment to high-quality education, he has also previously been awarded a Monash University Students’ Choice Award for Distinguished Teaching.
