Having moved to Western Australia from Wales in 2004 to undertake a post as an Upper Gastrointestinal Specialist Surgeon at Fremantle Hospital, Alan co-founded Upper GI West with fellow Specialist Surgeon Mr Krishan Epari in 2008. Their practice has grown exponentially to offer a multi-disciplinary approach – offering their patient an all-encompassing service to provide the best possible outcomes, including multiple specialist surgeons, general practitioners and dieticians. Alan graduated from Sheffield University and continued his training in Queensland, Wales, the North Trent and West Midland regions of England. Alan further continued his studies completing his subspecialty training in Upper Gastrointestinal and Obesity Surgery at The Northern General and The Royal Hallamshire Hospitals in Sheffield; and Fremantle Hospital. Prior to returning to Australia in 2004, Alan completed a Diploma in Medical Law from Northumbria University. Alan’s main interests are eosophagogastric malignancies, laparoscopic treatment of morbid obesity, giant hiatus hernias & reflux disease, and the endoscopic management of eosophagogastric conditions.
