Ian Chapman is Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Adelaide, and Senior Specialist Endocrinologist at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where he has a particular interest in pituitary disorders and adults with inborn errors of metabolism.

Dr. Chapman earned a bachelor of medicine and surgery degree at the University of Adelaide. He then completed clinical training in internal medicine and endocrinology at the Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide and a doctorate on growth hormone at the Flinders University, before undertaking a postgraduate fellowship at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, working on growth hormone and ageing. Since then his research interests have focused on the endocrinology of aging and in particular the effects of aging on appetite and food intake. His main research interest is the endocrinological and gastrointestinal causes of the anorexia of aging and undernutrition in the elderly.
