Dr Glen Schlaphoff is an Interventional and Diagnostic Radiologist.
He is the Head of Department of Interventional Radiology at Liverpool Hospital in Sydney and founding partner of Spectrum Medical Imaging. He is internationally qualified having EBIR certification.
He attends and presents at many local and international meetings and is an active IRSA member (Interventional Society of Australasia). His particular interests are in Prostate artery Embolisation (PAE), Cryoablation and Vertebroplasty He also specialises in high end vascular imaging and intervention, pain relief and spinal injections. He is active in Interventional Oncology - offering a wide range of therapies and interventions to oncology patients. Dr Schlaphoff has specific skills in treating patients with liver cancer (credentialled for delivery of SIR-Spheres, DC beads, TACE, Microwave and RFA), along with cryotherapy treatment for renal cancer patients.
In acute medicine he is active in the trauma team with published results in management of Pelvic Fractures with haemodynamic instability and embolisation, as well as emergency embolisation for acute GI bleeding, acute epistaxis and aneurysm rupture.
He has an active large referral for renal artery and carotid stenting, renal dialysis fistula maintenance as well as varicocoele and ovarian vein embolisation. He specialises in reporting of Vascular and Cardiac CT imaging. He is also involved in several multidisciplinary meetings including HCC Tumour group, Interventional Pain, Vascular and Trauma Audits. He is a promoter thought leader in new technology in all aspects of Radiology. Using the advancements in technology within this rapidly changing industry, Dr Schlaphoff has pioneered Prostate Artery Embolisation (PAE) in Australia – a new and exciting treatment option for men with an enlarged prostate. He has also been treating women with uterine fibroids using embolisation – Uterine Fibroid Embolisation (UFE) He is a partner in Spectrum Medical Imaging which is a privately owned, prestigious and high quality Radiology group in East and West Sydney. This practice offers the highest quality diagnostic and interventional services to Sydney, interstate and international patients.
He is IT savvy and is a champion for digital imaging and AI in Radiology. He enjoys his work on a multitude of radiology imaging workstations, manages several software types and imaging packages and is motivated to teach this technology to others.
