Dr Arun Gupta, MBBS, FRACP, MD (Melb) is a specialist gastroenterologist practising in Melbourne, Australia. Arun studied medicine at the University of Melbourne and underwent specialist training in gastroenterology at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, as well as Westmead Hospital and Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. He subsequently went on to complete a clinical fellowship at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford in the United Kingdom working with Professor Simon Travis and Professor Satish Keshav with a focus on advanced management of inflammatory bowel disease. He sees patients in consultation at Specialists at Burwood and performs endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy) at Glen Iris Private. Arun previously held a staff appointment in the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Unit at the Canberra Hospital where he plays an active role in teaching junior doctors, including involving them in research projects. Arun held the title of clinical lecturer at The Australian National University. He was awarded the Doctor of Medicine higher degree in 2015 through the University of Melbourne.
Dr Gupta is a member of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia, the American Gastroenterology Association and the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation. He previously served on the Drug and Therapeutics Committee as well as on the the Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) at the Canberra Hospital. Arun fulfilled the criteria for the GESA Colonoscopy Recertification Program in October 2018.
