Dr Aakansha Zala is a consultant endocrinologist with a wide range of experience having worked in both Queensland and New south Wales.
Dr Zala holds an academic affiliation at Princess Alexandra Hospital while undertaking PhD research at the University of Queensland. She has experience in all areas of endocrinology including managing patients with diabetes, thyroid disorders, osteoporosis, pituitary and adrenal disorders. Dr Zala is a firm believer in holistic, individualistic management with a focus on patient centered care.
Dr Zala began her medical career in Sydney at Nepean and Concord Repatriation Hospital. She completed her specialist Endocrine training at Gold coast University Hospital and Royal Darwin Hospital. She is currently completing her PhD in Graves disease immunology at the Translational Research Institute (University of Queensland). Dr Zala has presented at national scientific medical conferences and authored multiple peer reviewed articles in medical journals. She is a member of the Endocrine Society of Australia, The Australian Diabetes Association and the US Endocrine Society.
Dr Zala deeply values the importance of education when providing holistic medical care. She holds teaching positions at the University of Queensland and has previously held teaching positions with University of Sydney and Griffith University. This passion for teaching has translated into patient education being the cornerstone of her clinical practice.
