Associate Professor Philip Robinson completed his medical training at the University of Tasmania between 1977 and 1982. He was awarded a B Med Sc in 1979 and his MB BS in 1982. He trained in general paediatrics at The Royal Children' Hospital in Melbourne between 1984 and 1986 and completed a fellowship in Pediatric Respiratory Medicine in this department between 1987 and 1989. He was awarded an MD thesis for his work on postprandial pH levels in patients with CF and the role of acid reducing agents, in 1993. He completed postdoctoral training in respiratory medicine at the Pulmonary Research Laboratory of the University of British Columbia in VancouverCanada between 1989 and 1991. He was appointed a consultant in Respiratory Medicine at the Royal Children's Hospital in 1991. He was awarded a PhD from the University of Melbourne in 2003 for his work on the effect of in-utero cigarette smoke exposure on antenatal lung development. He became Head of CF clinical services in 1998 and helped establish the Royal Children's Cystic Fibrosis Research Trust and remains the Trust's medical chairman.
